The Łukowica Commune, located in the southeastern part of the Limanowa County in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, is characterized by a rich architectural and historical heritage. Among its monuments are the 14th-century wooden Church of St. Andrew the Apostle, restored in the 18th century, a wooden manor house in Świdnik from 1752, and the brick Church of St. Nicholas the Bishop in Przyszowa. The commune comprises nine village councils (sołectwa): Jadamwola, Jastrzębie, Łukowica, Młyńczyska, Owieczka, Przyszowa (including Przyszowa I and II 'Berdychów'), Roztoka, Stronie, and Świdnik. Demographically, Łukowica Commune was recognized as one of the poorest in Poland in 2013, and its inhabitants are predominantly Catholic, with three active parishes. The commune is served by seven units of the Volunteer Fire Department (OSP), including OSP Łukowica and OSP Przyszowa, which are part of the National Rescue and Firefighting System. In the field of education, there are nine primary schools serving the local community. The commune borders the municipalities of Kamienica, Limanowa, Łącko, and Podegrodzie, which influences its cultural and social life. The commune's area is largely utilized for agricultural and forest purposes, highlighting its rural character. An interesting fact is that Łukowica Commune constitutes 7.32% of the area of Limanowa County, and due to its location in the valleys of main streams, it is distinguished by the picturesque landscapes of the Beskid Wyspowy Mountains, transitioning into the Sądecka Basin.
