The rural commune of Świdwin, located in the northern part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, is part of Świdwin County. The seat of the commune is the town of Świdwin, which is not part of the rural commune but functions as a separate urban municipality with a rich history and infrastructure. The commune covers 22.6% of the county's area, with a population density of 24.2 people per km². As of the end of 2017, the commune was home to 5,951 people, accounting for 12.5% of the county's total population. The Rega River, one of the longer rivers of the Baltic coast, flows through the commune, supporting water tourism, and a green tourist trail has been established along its banks. Additionally, forests cover 27% of the commune's area, while agricultural land constitutes 64%. The commune benefits from good road connections via regional roads, and the history of rail transport in Świdwin dates back to 1859. In 2016, the commune's budget amounted to PLN 23 million, with public debt of PLN 6 million, representing 24.8% of its income. Throughout its history, local railway lines have been closed, impacting residents' mobility. Administratively, the commune falls under various regional courts and has a place in local government structures, enabling residents to actively participate in local politics. Thanks to its location and natural resources, Świdwin Commune is an interesting place both culturally and historically.
