The Świerklaniec Commune, located in the Silesian Voivodeship in the Tarnowskie Góry County, is an area with a rich history and diverse architecture. Established on October 1, 1924, the commune was formed from a former manorial estate and, between 1975 and 1998, it was administratively part of the Katowice Voivodeship. The seat of the commune is the village of Świerklaniec, whose population in 2022 was 13,018. The demographic expansion from 2002 to 2021, which reached 17.9%, highlights the growing interest in this region. The commune is characterized by a variety of historical landmarks, including the Castle and Palace in Świerklaniec and the Donnersmarck Palace in Nakło Śląskie, which attract history and architecture enthusiasts. It is worth visiting the Park in Świerklaniec and the Romantic Ruins in Orzech, which add unique charm to the area. Culture is well-represented through two libraries and the Silesian Culture Center in Nakło Śląskie, which served 1,467 readers in 2019. The commune is also a hub for sports activities, with 13 clubs, including four football clubs and two martial arts clubs. The area abounds in natural attractions, such as the artificial reservoirs Kozłowa Góra and Nakło-Chechło, which serve recreational purposes. The transport infrastructure, including national and regional roads, is well-developed, and in 2023, a Transfer Center was opened, facilitating communication for residents.
