Alder Grove

The municipality of Olszyna, located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship within Lubań County, covers an area of 47.16 km², of which 68% is agricultural land and 19% is forested land. The municipality constitutes 11% of the county's total area. The administrative seat is in Olszyna, which had a population of 6,742 in 2009, with 4,739 residents living in the town and 2,003 in the rural area. By 2020, the population had decreased to 6,496. Olszyna was first mentioned in 1254, making it a place with a rich history. In terms of culture, the municipality is home to the Municipal Cultural Center, the Municipal Public Library, and the Child and Family Center, reflecting a commitment to the social and cultural life of its residents. A great example of local identity is the municipal coat of arms, approved in 1997. The heraldic shield is divided, with planks arranged on the left side and an alder tree along with a saw bearing the name "OLSZYNA" on the right, referencing local tradition and craftsmanship.
