Jutrzenka, established in 1951 in Bydgoszcz as an independent food industry enterprise, has its roots in pre-war factories. Until 2008, it was an independent confectionery producer, but since then it has been part of the capital group Colian Holding S.A., which brings together various confectionery brands, including Grześki, Jeżyki, Goplana, and Solidarność. The history of Jutrzenka is woven into the story of the Polish confectionery industry, particularly in the context of the Polish People's Republic (PRL) era, when it was nationalized and saw increased candy production despite challenges related to quality, such as raw material shortages and lower standards. Architecturally, the Bydgoszcz plant underwent several transformations, with its historical factories located in various parts of the city, featuring buildings of diverse styles. Over time, operations ceased in some locations, and production was relocated. In 2014, a modern facility was opened in the Osowa Góra district, equipped with advanced production lines. This new plant became a confectionery production hub, boosting employment and production efficiency. Jutrzenka's products are known not only in Poland but also in foreign markets, exported to 30 countries, thanks to a diverse range that includes not only sweets but also dried fruits and beverages. Culturally, Jutrzenka played a significant role in the lives of Bydgoszcz residents, becoming synonymous with local sweets and maintaining a strong connection to tradition that has endured for decades despite changing market conditions. In the 1990s, the brand grew at an annual rate of 40–100%, intensifying advertising efforts and engaging in sponsorships of local sports events. Interestingly, Jutrzenka was one of the pioneers in the Polish confectionery market, and its iconic products, such as "Miśki" gummy bears and "Familijne" cookies, became well-known and beloved by several generations of Poles. It is worth noting the continuity of confectionery tradition carried on by different generations, as well as the transformations in the production base, reflecting changes in technology and quality approaches. The history of Jutrzenka is also an example of successful privatization and adaptation to free-market conditions, evidenced by numerous market successes and an innovative approach to production.
