The commune of Babiak, located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship in the northern part of the Koło County, is administratively organized as a rural commune. Its seat is the town of Babiak, and in 2016, the commune had a population of 8,004. The history of the commune dates back to the years 1815-1954, when these areas were part of the Lubotyń commune. In 1973, the commune of Babiak was established. The landscape of the commune is characterized by post-glacial hills and lakes, including Lake Brdowskie, which is the largest body of water. The commune covers an area of 133.58 km², of which 70% is agricultural land. Transportation is facilitated by the provincial road No. 270 and the Tczew – Chorzów Batory railway line, with two railway stations. The commune offers a rich cultural heritage, including landmarks such as the Church of St. Adalbert in Brdów, which is the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Victory, and the Pauline monastery. In Lubotyń, there is the 17th-century Church of St. Lawrence, and in Dębno Królewskie, the Church of St. Michael the Archangel from 1766, while in Babiak, you can see the former evangelical church. The commune is known for its fire departments, an active cultural center, kindergartens, and primary schools. Health centers also operate within its area. The local community cultivates traditions and history, and an interesting feature is the collective grave of the 1863 insurgents in the Brdów cemetery. The commune of Babiak is surrounded by neighboring communes, which fosters cooperation and cultural exchange.
