Babsk

Babsk is a village located in the Łódź Voivodeship, in the Rawa County, within the administrative district of Biała Rawska. It enjoys an attractive location on the Łowicz-Błonie Plain, near the S8 expressway, which encourages new residents, mainly from Warsaw, to settle here. Babsk is home to just under 600 people and has gained popularity as a summer holiday destination. The village is characterized by flat terrain, surrounded by farmland and forests, including the Babsk Nature Reserve, making it ideal for recreation and encounters with local wildlife. Babsk boasts a rich architectural heritage, including a Neoclassical manor complex, the Church of St. Anthony of Padua, and a 19th-century parish cemetery with the grave of Konstancja Gładkowska, Fryderyk Chopin's youthful love. The church, built on the site of a former wooden temple, features an interesting interior and is surrounded by walls with small chapels. The manor complex, currently in private hands, is surrounded by a park listed as a historical monument. The local reservoir attracts fishing enthusiasts, while the green areas provide excellent conditions for relaxation in nature. Historically, the village was once owned by the Babski family, and later changes in ownership influenced its development. After World War II, Babsk gained importance due to its road connections. The village was also considered as a potential location for a new international airport, highlighting its significance and infrastructure development. It is worth noting that in 1989, the famous footballer Gaetano Scirea died in a car accident in Babsk. With its rich history, interesting attractions, and beautiful landscapes, Babsk is a charming and noteworthy place.
