wikipedia
The Bierbaum Mausoleum in Szreniawa is a historic neo-Gothic structure, likely built in 1860 on the orders of Hermann von Bierbaum. Designed by Martin Gropius, it is distinguished by its characteristic 22-meter tower, whose lower section is cuboid in form and the upper part octagonal. Constructed from red brick with elements of artificial stone, the mausoleum is situated on a sandy hill within the Wielkopolski National Park and now serves as a viewpoint and educational station. The tower's burial chapel most likely holds the remains of Leonhard Bierbaum's daughter. Listed in the register of historic monuments in 1993, the site fell into ruin for many years after World War II but was renovated in 2001 and given new life as a venue for education and exhibitions. A notable aspect of the mausoleum's history involves post-World War II events when executions were carried out on its grounds by the Security Service. Despite efforts by veterans' organizations, the victims of these tragic events have not been exhumed. Surrounding the mausoleum are symbolic graves of the Bierbaum family and informational plaques. Climbing the 124 steps offers views of Poznań and Moraska Góra.
