wikipedia
Binarowa is a village located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in Gorlice County, primarily known for its historic parish church dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, which was built around 1500. This is a single-nave church, constructed using log techniques, featuring valuable 16th- and 17th-century paintings as well as 14th-century Gothic sculptures. Between 1641 and 1650, it underwent a thorough renovation, and its interior houses treasures such as an altar with a statue of the Virgin Mary and Child, a stone baptismal font from 1522, and a Gothic bell from the 15th century. In the left side altar, visitors can see an image of the Virgin Mary, a gift from King John Casimir. In 2003, the church was inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List as part of the complex of wooden architectural monuments of Lesser Poland and Subcarpathia. Binarowa is also home to War Cemetery No. 110 from World War I. The village has a rich history dating back to its foundation in 1348, when King Casimir the Great granted the right to establish a settlement. Binarowa was also a place of resettlement for residents of Poznań during World War II, who were displaced from a transit camp. Modern-day Binarowa is an important administrative center, with a school, a volunteer fire department, and active residents. It combines fascinating history, valuable monuments, and cultural traditions, making it an attractive destination on the map of Poland.
