The museum dedicated to St. Maximilian Kolbe is located in Zduńska Wola, at the site where the saint was born. It operates under the Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The museum was established in 1988 on the initiative of the parish priests, and its building was reconstructed between 1991 and 1993 using original elements, after the demolition of the original structure. The museum was opened on January 9, 1994, on the centenary of St. Maximilian's birth, with the consecration ceremony led by Bishop Henryk Muszyński.
The exhibition is organized across five thematic rooms, where visitors can explore the saint’s biography, his ideas and spirituality, as well as daily life in Zduńska Wola at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. An interesting feature is the "Room of Thought and Spirituality," which displays sculptures created for a competition held to mark the centenary of Kolbe’s birth. The exhibits also include a kitchen with period furniture and a birth room furnished with authentic items, such as a cradle and a small altar.
The museum is open year-round, except on Mondays, and admission is charged on a pay-what-you-wish basis. Thanks to its architecture and diverse cultural and educational offerings, the institution is a significant landmark in Zduńska Wola, honoring the life and legacy of St. Maximilian Kolbe.
