wikipedia
The Bolesławiec railway station was built in 1845, simultaneously with the launch of the railway line connecting Wrocław and Berlin. It is a two-story brick building with distinctive columns in the waiting room, the interior of which is decorated with green tiles. The station features two high platforms with a hardened surface and a local control center, which was launched in 2007 and remotely controls train traffic on the section from Legnica to Węgliniec. Located 470 meters from the city's market square, Bolesławiec has witnessed many historical events, including visits by Frederick William IV of Prussia and Tsar Alexander II Romanov. The station was established thanks to the Lower Silesian-Markish Railway Company and has undergone multiple developments since its inception, including two expansions. From 1906 to 1976, a branch line to Nowa Wieś Grodziska also operated. As part of modernization efforts, which included the construction of new infrastructure, the station underwent a comprehensive reconstruction between 2005 and 2007, including track replacement and the construction of new platforms with an underground passage. In 2020, further renovation of the station and its surroundings was planned. Today, the station serves both passenger trains of Koleje Dolnośląskie and PKP Intercity, and also has a siding to the Wizów Chemical Plant. The station plays a crucial role in regional transport, and its architecture and history attract tourists.
