Książek is a small settlement located in the southern part of Kłodzko, on the left bank of the Nysa Kłodzka River. The history of this settlement dates back to the Middle Ages, with the first mention of a watermill existing in 1345. Książek was once an agricultural village that over time became part of Kłodzko. This settlement reflects a long tradition of habitation in the region, with archaeological traces indicating human presence as early as the Lusatian culture period and Roman influences. The architecture of Książek is characterized by 19th-century buildings, including the Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola, a Baroque structure from 1680, and a former 18th-century watermill. The area of Książek is dominated by modern single-family homes and allotment gardens, which provide recreational space for residents. As part of Kłodzko, Książek holds cultural significance, being the seat of various social institutions, such as the Administrative Center of Care and Educational Facilities. The residents of Książek primarily belong to the Catholic Church, which contributes to the local religious identity. In terms of infrastructure, the settlement has good transport connections, both road and rail, with a stop on the railway line from Kłodzko to Kudowa-Zdrój. Despite transformations after World War II, Książek has retained its rural character, and in recent years it has developed, mainly due to private construction. The region features sports facilities, including the Sports and Recreation Center, where various sports activities are organized. Although there is no local education, children attend schools in Kłodzko. Książek, formerly an independent village, has gained importance as a historic district of Kłodzko, combining rich history, tradition, and modernity.
