wikipedia
Border Mountain, also known as Graniczny Wierch, is a border peak with an elevation of 536 meters above sea level, situated on the Polish-Czech border in the Opava Mountains. It is characterized by a dome-like shape and gentle slopes, with the Opavice Valley standing out particularly distinctly. On its slopes, there are sources of rivers such as the Wielki Potok and Złota Opawica. The mountain is composed of Carboniferous mudstones, clay shales, and conglomerates, covered by younger deposits from the Pleistocene glaciations. At its foothills lie the Czech town of Město Albrechtice and the Polish village of Opawica. Graniczny Wierch is a lesser-known and less frequented part of the Opava Mountains, and its landmark is the observation tower on the neighboring peak of Hraniční vrch, built in 2011. This unique structure consists of two telecommunication towers connected by a footbridge, offering panoramic views of local towns and mountains. It is also worth mentioning the Celňák pond, located near Město Albrechtice. The mountain is under nature protection, and its slopes are covered with lower montane forest, enriched with a variety of deciduous trees. The area is protected as part of the Mokre-Lewice Landscape Region. Border Mountain also offers hiking trails leading to the summit and the observation tower, connecting the towns of Opawica and Město Albrechtice as well as other nearby peaks, encouraging active outdoor recreation. Cycling trails in the area facilitate exploring the surroundings, and the unique natural environment makes it an interesting destination for nature lovers and tourists.
