Buczek is a rural commune located in the Łódź Voivodeship, within the Łask County, with its administrative seat in the village of Buczek. For many years, from 1975 to 1998, the commune was part of the Sieradz Voivodeship. According to data, at the end of 2007, the commune had a population of 4,898, which increased to 5,105 by September 2014, including 2,569 women. The commune covers an area of 92.21 km², of which 69% is agricultural land and 21% is forested. Buczek Commune occupies 14.92% of the area of Łask County.
The commune includes numerous village administrative units (sołectwa), such as Bachorzyn, Brodnia Dolna, Brodnia Górna, Czestków (in several variants), Grzeszyn, Gucin, Józefatów, Kowalew, Luciejów, Malenia, Sowińce, Sycanów, Wola Bachorska, and Wola Buczkowska, as well as non-administrative villages like Czarny Las, Dąbrowa, Herbertów, and Wilkowyja.
