Bytoń is a rural commune located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in Radziejów County, with a rich history and significant architectural and cultural assets. The commune was established between 1973 and 1976, and its administrative center is the village of Bytoń (formerly known as Nowy Dwór). Covering an area of 73.35 km², it was home to 3,823 residents in 2004, 80% of which is agricultural land. The commune boasts well-preserved historical monuments, including two manor complexes. The manor complex in Niegibalice dates back to the second half of the 19th century and includes a manor house and a park, while the complex in Świesz features a manor from 1870 and a park from the early 19th century.
Another notable site is the church complex in Witowo, constructed between 1899 and 1903, which includes a church, a cemetery, and a brick fence. Witowo is also home to a 19th-century Roman Catholic cemetery with a chapel. The commune is known for its diverse villages, such as Borowo, Budzisław, Niegibalice, and Wandynowo, as well as settlements without official village status, including Brylewo and Morzyce. It borders the communes of Osięciny, Piotrków Kujawski, Radziejów, and Topólka, making it part of a broader regional structure.
In terms of culture, Bytoń takes pride in its traditions and local communities that preserve regional customs. Many residents are actively involved in various forms of community engagement. Interestingly, the commune is not only agriculturally significant but also boasts valuable natural areas, attracting nature enthusiasts and tourists.
