wikipedia
The Castle Brewery in Racibórz is one of the oldest breweries in Poland, with a beer-brewing tradition dating back to the 16th century. The current building, constructed in the 19th century, was erected after a fire destroyed the earlier structures in the northwestern wing of the Racibórz princes' castle. The brewery has a rich history, with the first written mentions of brewing in Racibórz dating back to 1293. Over the centuries, the brewery underwent numerous transformations, gaining recognition in the 19th century thanks to the introduction of modern techniques, such as steam engines and the cultivation of its own ingredients. At the beginning of the 20th century, the brewery produced beer in the Pilsner style, which earned it widespread acclaim both domestically and internationally. After World War II, the facility was nationalized, and modernizations in the 1950s and 1960s increased its production capacity. By 1999, the brewery had gone through numerous ownership and structural changes, including mergers with other companies. In 2003, the brewery was purchased by Jerzy Łazarczyk, and after modernization and the installation of new equipment, it began operating as the Książęcy Racibórz Brewery. In 2010, it was renamed the Castle Brewery. In 2021, it participated in Industiada, highlighting its cultural and historical significance in the region. An interesting fact is that at the end of the 19th century, there were 9 breweries in Racibórz, but after the war, only this one survived. The Castle Brewery is not only a symbol of local tradition but also an important element of Racibórz's industrial architecture. Its history has become part of the city's cultural heritage, and the facility is open to visitors, allowing them to explore local beer-brewing traditions.
