The municipality of Choceń, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, within Włocławek County, boasts a rich cultural and architectural heritage. The seat of the municipality is the village of Choceń, which had a population of 7,978 in 2004, and by 2019, this number remained stable at around 7,977 residents. The municipality covers an area of 99.68 km², with agricultural land dominating, accounting for 87% of its territory. Choceń is characterized by a diverse array of immovable monuments dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The most significant of these is the manor complex in Choceń, featuring a manor house from around 1900, surrounded by a park and harmoniously integrated into the local architecture. In Jarantowice, there is a manor and farm complex from 1914–1915, which includes a park and farm buildings, such as a forge and a sheepfold. Another complex, located in Kuźnice, dates back to the second half of the 19th century and consists of a manor house and associated farm buildings. In Olganowo, there is also a manor complex with a park and various farm buildings. In Śmiłowice and Wilkowice, manor parks and other preserved 19th-century structures testify to the municipality’s rich history. The villages within the municipality are divided into administrative units (sołectwa), including Bodzanowo, Borzymie, and Jarantowice. Additionally, the municipality borders neighboring municipalities such as Boniewo, Chodecz, Kowal, and Lubraniec. Choceń is a place of significant cultural and historical importance in the region, attracting not only architecture enthusiasts but also those interested in the history of rural life in Poland.
