wikipedia
The Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Pabianice is a historic temple of the Evangelical-Augsburg parish, located in the city center at 8 Zamkowa Street. Designed by Franciszek Reinstein, the church was built between 1827 and 1832 and consecrated on November 25, 1832, by Rev. Ernst Johann August von Modl. In the years 1875–1876, the church was expanded, and in 2001–2002 it underwent a comprehensive renovation that included interior restoration, mold removal from the walls, and foundation drying. Architecturally, the church takes the form of a rotunda inscribed within a cross plan, topped with a conical roof featuring a lantern at its peak. The exterior facade is adorned with statues of the apostles, Saints Peter and Paul, crafted by the Warsaw sculptor Aleksander Pruszyński. The interior of the church is characterized by a marble baptismal font, brought from Saxony in 1864, and an altar with a pulpit featuring a painting of Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, created by Wojciech Gerson. However, the Saxon stained-glass windows funded by the Kindler family, which depicted Mary at the feet of the risen Jesus and the baptism of Jesus, have not survived to the present day. The choir houses an organ by Gebrüder Walter, distinguished by its fully mechanical action, making it one of the few preserved in the region. The church not only serves religious functions but is also a significant point on the cultural map of Pabianice, testifying to the rich history and traditions of the local community.
