wikipedia
The Church of St. James the Apostle, Son of Alphaeus, located in Łosiniec, is an Orthodox parish church belonging to the Warsaw-Bielsk Diocese of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church. Its history dates back to 1882, when, on the initiative of parish priest Fr. Jan Nowicki, a decision was made to build a new wooden church to replace the old one, constructed in 1778 by Izabela Branicką, which was in poor condition. In 1883, the parish obtained permission to build and consent to source wood from the Ladzka Forest. The construction, carried out by carpenter Izydor Iwacik, cost 12,000 rubles, and the iconostasis was ordered from Vilnius nobleman Izaak Cypkin in 1884; its construction took two years. The church was solemnly consecrated on August 30, 1887. Between 1994 and 1997, a major renovation of the temple took place, and in 1995 it was entered into the register of historical monuments. Architecturally, the church, built on the plan of a Latin cross, features a wooden log structure. It has a tripartite body with porches at the entrances, an octagonal tower above the narthex, and a drum roof topped with an onion dome over the central part of the nave. Interestingly, the church is not only a place of religious worship but also a significant element of local culture and history.
