wikipedia
The Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Zabłudów is a Roman Catholic parish church located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, belonging to the Białystok-Dojlidy Deanery of the Archdiocese of Białystok. The current church was built between 1805 and 1840 in the Classicist style, and its construction took an extended period due to various circumstances. The church was founded by Countess Demblińska, and the consecration ceremony took place on June 29, 1840, on the feast day of the church's patron saints. In 1856, the church was consecrated by the Bishop of Vilnius, Wacław Żyliński, and religious services began as early as 1850. The architecture of the church is particularly notable for its Classicist style, characterized by clean lines and balanced proportions. The interior decoration is dominated by the main altar, which features a painting of the Apostles Peter and Paul by Antoni Kollberg, created in Berlin. The side altars are adorned with paintings of St. Michael the Archangel and the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In 1913, pneumatic organs with 14 voices, manufactured by the Warsaw-based firm A. Szymański, were installed in the church. New Stations of the Cross add spiritual depth and cultural richness to the interior. The church is deeply embedded in local history and tradition, serving as an important landmark for the residents of Zabłudów and the surrounding areas. Its construction, consecration, and furnishings hold a significant place in the cultural heritage of the region, attracting both worshippers and tourists interested in history and sacred architecture.
