wikipedia
The Church of the Holy Trinity and Saint Florian in Zawiercie, located in the Skarżyce district on Skarżycka Street, is a Roman Catholic monument built at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries. It was consecrated in 1598, and in 1610, three chapels were added, symbolizing the Holy Trinity. A second consecration took place in 1678, performed by Kraków auxiliary bishop Mikołaj Oborski. The church's architecture features a tower with a broken roof, topped by a quadrangular spire, and three round chapels connected by stone walls. The central part houses the presbytery with a classicist main altar, adorned with gold and columns, which contains a painting depicting the Holy Trinity. Near the historic church, visitors can also see a side chapel with a 17th-century altar featuring paintings of the Nativity and the Adoration of the Shepherds. The interior of the church is richly furnished, including a monstrance with rays and grapes, a chalice with an inscription, and chasubles from the 17th and 18th centuries. The church gained monument status when it was entered into the register of historical monuments of the Silesian Voivodeship in 1967. Additionally, on August 15, 1999, Archbishop Stanisław Nowak designated the church as the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Skarżyce, where an image of the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus is venerated. The church not only serves religious functions but also represents an important element of local cultural heritage, attracting both the faithful and tourists interested in its history and architecture.
