The Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in Gródek, belonging to the Gródek Deanery of the Białystok-Gdańsk Diocese of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church, was built between 1946 and 1970 on the site where the first church, founded by the Chodkiewicz family in the 15th century, once stood. The current temple was constructed after the destruction of the wooden church from 1858, which burned down in 1943. Until then, religious functions were held in a chapel at the Orthodox cemetery. The church, located on Metropolitan Basil Doroszkiewicz Street, was consecrated on June 15, 1970. Notable architectural features include polychromes by Adam Stalony-Dobrzański and Jerzy Nowosielski, as well as stained-glass windows depicting biblical scenes and saints. Between 1992 and 2008, the church underwent a major renovation, which included restoring the facade, replacing the roof, refurbishing the interiors, and installing a new iconostasis made of Italian marble. An interesting fact is the use of solar lamps to heat the temple and the nighttime illumination of the building. In 2011, the renovation of the church fence was completed, and in 2016, oak icon stands with icons of the Mother of God of Gródek and St. John the Theologian were placed inside. Additionally, next to the church, there is an inactive cemetery established in the 17th century. The building was entered into the register of monuments on December 9, 2004, under number A-126, highlighting its importance in local history and culture.
