wikipedia
The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, commonly known as "Klasztorek" (the little monastery), is a Roman Catholic auxiliary church belonging to the Parish of the Transfiguration of Jesus in Wąsosz. The temple was built after 1605 through the efforts of Andrzej Rogala for the Order of Discalced Carmelites. As a result of actions taken by the Tsarist government, the monks were expelled in 1864, which significantly impacted the subsequent fate of the church. After years of neglect, between 1984 and 1994, thanks to parish priest Father Stanisław Jaworowski, the church underwent a thorough renovation. From 1995 to 2000, under the direction of Father Jan Wnorowski, the interior of the building was enriched with new furnishings. A valuable feature of the church is the miraculous image of the Virgin Mary of Wąsosz from the 16th century, which is held in special veneration by the faithful. Architecturally, the temple represents the Baroque style, and its chancel is oriented toward the north. The church is classified as a hall church, meaning it has a single nave with the same height and width as the chancel, both covered by a common vault. The height from the floor to the vault is 8.1 meters, and the horizontal dimensions of the building are 28 by 9 meters. The church not only serves a religious function but is also an important element of local culture and history, standing as a symbol of the spirituality and tradition of the region.
