wikipedia
The Cieszyn Town Hall is a historic building located at the corner of the southern frontage of the Market Square and Srebrna Street, with a rich history dating back to the 14th century. Originally a wooden town hall built in 1496, its structure has been repeatedly rebuilt over the centuries, which has significantly influenced its appearance. The current style of the town hall can be described as Baroque-Classicist. A notable feature is the tall clock tower designed by Ignacy Chambrez, completed in 1801. The town hall has a three-story structure and stands out with its decorative facade, the centerpiece of which is a risalit with a balcony and the town's coat of arms. The interior is laid out in a three-bay system, enriched with diverse vaulting and ornately decorated rooms, including a session hall with Art Nouveau fireplaces and a heraldic frieze. The town hall also serves cultural functions—since 2014, its interiors have been available for wedding ceremonies, and in 1906, a ceremonial session in honor of Emperor Franz Joseph I was held there. It is also worth noting that a hejnał (a traditional trumpet call) is played daily from the town hall tower, commemorating the legendary history of Cieszyn. The town hall is a symbol of the city and serves as a fascinating example of architecture that combines elements of the past with the rich cultural heritage of the region.
