Zatory is a rural municipality located in the Masovian Voivodeship, within the Pułtusk County, covering an area of 121.62 km². Formerly part of the Ostrołęka Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998, the municipality features diverse land use, dominated by agricultural land (60%) and forests (32%). The main settlement of the municipality is the village of Zatory, which is home to a significant portion of the population, totaling 4,849 people as of 2019. The municipality comprises numerous village administrative units (sołectwa), including Borsuki-Kolonia, Burlaki, Cieńsza, and Dębiny, as well as localities without such status, such as Borsuki-Gajówka and Kępa Zatorska-Gajówka. Zatory Municipality constitutes 14.68% of the area of Pułtusk County and borders other municipalities, such as Obryte, Pokrzywnica, and Pułtusk. Today, Zatory is characterized by its rural atmosphere and proximity to nature, attracting tourists and those seeking tranquility. From a historical perspective, the region may have interesting elements related to agricultural and forestry traditions, which are part of the local culture. Although not widely known nationally, the municipality boasts its own local cultural and natural assets worth exploring.
