wikipedia
Łącznik, a village located in the Opole Voivodeship within Prudnik County, boasts a rich history and fascinating cultural heritage. Known since the 14th century, it has preserved many historical names, and its original name reflects the meadows characteristic of the region. The village is home to the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in the 18th century on the site of an older church destroyed by fire. This parish is a vital center of religious life, and the church itself features valuable artistic elements such as frescoes and paintings. Łącznik also has a historic 18th-century rectory and a mortuary. The local culture is strongly tied to the German minority, reflected in the activities of the German Friendship Circle and organizations promoting German culture. The villagers use the Prudnik dialect, a variety of the Silesian dialect. Historically, Łącznik played a significant role during the Silesian Uprisings and the 1921 plebiscite, when the majority of its residents voted in favor of Germany. After World War II, the village came under Polish administration, and its history was marked by wartime events and border changes. Interestingly, Łącznik was the home of a team that won medals in the Polish Women's Handball Championships in the 1950s, making it unique on a national scale. The village also boasts picturesque surroundings, including the Zielona Zatoka (Green Bay) reservoir, which is a tourist attraction. Thanks to its diverse historical and cultural traces, Łącznik remains an intriguing place for both residents and visitors.
