W skrócie

wikipedia
Przełajka is the smallest district of Siemianowice Śląskie, characterized by its residential and agricultural nature, located on the northern outskirts of the city. It is inhabited by 1,352 residents (data from 2012). The district borders Piekary Śląskie, Wojkowice, Będzin, Czeladź, and Bańgów, with the Brynica River forming a natural boundary. Przełajka is home to the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which belongs to the Siemianowice deanery. The etymology of the name Przełajka derives from the medieval village "Przelaja," known as early as the 14th century, with the word meaning, among other things, "byway" or "outskirts." The history of the district dates back to the 13th century when it was a ducal village. In terms of legal affiliation, Przełajka differed from neighboring settlements, which were established under Magdeburg Law. The first written mention of Przełajka comes from 1313, when Duke Ziemowit gifted it to the knight Przecław Dudek. Subsequent owners changed frequently, and in the 17th century, the village suffered destruction during the Swedish War. In the 18th century, the estate passed into the hands of Count Hugo I Henckel von Donnersmarck, who linked Przełajka to the Siemianowice estate complex. The municipality of Przełajka also operated here until 1951. The architecture of Przełajka features historic shrines, such as the Chapel of Blessed Jan Sarkander and the Chapel of St. Isidore. The main religious building is the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1951. The district is well-connected thanks to bus services, including a night connection to Katowice. An interesting fact is the popular local saying: "Przez Przełajka do Piekor" ("Through Przełajka to Piekary"), which refers to a long and winding road that always leads to the destination. The main communication artery is Wiejska Street, which connects Przełajka with other districts. Thanks to its historical heritage and local charm, Przełajka has a unique character within the context of Siemianowice Śląskie.
