wikipedia
Czemierniki is a town in Poland, located in the Lublin Voivodeship on the Lubartów Upland, which historically gained significance as a trade and service center. Established in 1509 as a private noble town by the Firlej family, Czemierniki was granted town rights based on Magdeburg Law, which contributed to its development. In the 16th century, the town experienced its golden age, during which a brick manor and the Church of St. Stanislaus the Bishop were built. The complex urban layout and bastion fortifications from the first half of the 17th century testify to the rich architecture of the place. After destruction during the Swedish invasions in 1655, the town changed owners multiple times, which influenced its development. An interesting fact is that Czemierniki was home to a complex of gardens considered one of the most beautiful in Poland, established by Henryk Firlej. Czemierniki was also a site of battles during the January Uprising and the activity of the Home Army during World War II. After the war, the town underwent a series of administrative changes, regaining its town status in early 2024. Modern-day Czemierniki is a local center where agriculture plays a dominant role, and educational institutions such as the Tadeusz Kościuszko Primary School operate. Culturally, the town is associated with the Czemierniki Deanery, established in 2008. Numerous historic sites can be found here, including a castle, a church, and a Jewish cemetery. Czemierniki is also home to the amateur football club LKS Orzeł, sustaining local sports culture. The town offers tourist trails, including the Lublin Renaissance Trail, attracting visitors interested in local history and architecture.
