Dlugoleka

Długołęka is a village in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, located in the Długołęka municipality, and part of the Wrocław agglomeration. Its history dates back to the mid-13th century, with the first recorded mentions of the settlement appearing at the end of that same century. Długołęka was historically divided into two parts: a knightly section and a bishop-owned section. During the Thirty Years' War, the village suffered significant damage, which delayed its reconstruction. By the 18th century, the population stood at 147 residents, and many notable changes took place after the village was converted into royal property. Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, the population grew steadily, and after World War II, Długołęka began to develop dynamically, welcoming repatriates and displaced persons. The village is home to several important historical sites, including the Church of St. Michael the Archangel, whose origins trace back to 1376, and an 18th-century rectory, both of which are listed in the register of historical monuments. Długołęka offers a rich cultural life, featuring the Municipal Public Library and the Municipal Cultural Center, where various social and artistic events are held. The village also boasts sports infrastructure, such as playing fields, a sports hall, and tennis courts. Długołęka is well-connected to Wrocław thanks to a train station on line 143 and several bus stops. The local economy is supported by a variety of businesses, including wholesalers, restaurants, and car dealerships. An interesting historical note is that a German fighter plane crashed here during World War II, and its wreckage was recovered in 2008. The village is also crossed by several tourist trails, making it an attractive destination for nature lovers and those seeking active recreation. Today, Długołęka has around 3,000 residents and maintains its rural character while steadily modernizing, with numerous investments in road infrastructure and both single and multi-family housing developments.
