wikipedia
Dobrzany, located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, is a town with a rich history and interesting architecture. Likely founded in the 12th century, it was originally named Jacobshagen and received its town rights before 1336. The town suffered from numerous fires, particularly in 1606 and 1781, which impacted its development and building structure. In the 19th century, the town gained significance due to the construction of the "Szadzko Narrow-Gauge Railway." Within Dobrzany, there are several interesting historical monuments, including the Church of St. Michael the Archangel, a Neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau town hall, and 16th- and 17th-century half-timbered houses. Dobrzany is also an educational center, with the Public School Complex attended by many students from the municipality. The town is home to the active sports club MKS Zorza Dobrzany, which has a long history and runs various sports sections. Residents have a voice in local administration, with the mayor serving as the executive authority. Dobrzany is characterized by its picturesque location on Lake Szadzko and proximity to the Pęzinka River, making it attractive both for tourism and as a place to live.
