Dołhobyczów is a rural municipality located in the Lublin Voivodeship, within the Hrubieszów County. Its administrative seat is the town of Dołhobyczów. The municipality has a rich history dating back to the pre-war period when it was part of the Tomaszów County. As a result of border changes in 1951, part of its territory was incorporated into the Soviet Union, which influenced the later shaping of the municipality's borders. The modern Dołhobyczów municipality covers an area of 214.19 km² and includes several villages, such as Dołhobyczów-Kolonia, Honiatyn, Gołębie, and Jaworz, as well as other settlements that were once part of various municipalities. The municipality is home to the Suśle Wzgórza nature reserve, which protects the habitat of the spotted souslik, highlighting its importance in nature conservation. Demographically, according to data from 2010, the municipality had a population of 5,787 people, and the age structure of the inhabitants shows that older generations dominate the population. The municipality has close ties with Ukraine, emphasizing its openness to international cooperation, which led to the opening of the Dołhobyczów-Uhrynów border crossing in 2014. The area is also geographically diverse, with 79% of its land used for agriculture and 16% covered by forests.
