Drelów is a rural municipality located in the Lublin Voivodeship, in the Biała Podlaska County. Its administrative seat is in the town of Drelów, and the municipality historically encompassed the areas of the former gminas of Zahajki, Żerocin, and Szóstka. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Biała Podlaska Voivodeship. In 2004, the population of the municipality was 5,577. Drelów is characterized by a diverse land structure: within an area of 228.03 km², 57% is agricultural land, and 36% is forested. The municipality constitutes 8.28% of the area of Biała Podlaska County. From a nature conservation perspective, the area includes two nature reserves: Liski, which protects natural forests and rare plant species, and Omelno, which safeguards natural lime forests. The municipality of Drelów consists of numerous villages, such as Aleksandrówka, Danówka, Dołha, and Strzyżówka, as well as the forest settlement Okopy. Neighboring municipalities include Biała Podlaska, Kąkolewnica, Komarówka Podlaska, Łomazy, Międzyrzec Podlaski, Radzyń Podlaski, and Wohyń, making it part of a vibrant local community. The municipality also has deep historical roots, connected with the diverse cultures and traditions present in the region, which enrich the local cultural landscape.
