The municipality of Dubeninki, located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, is the northeasternmost municipality in the region. From 1975 to 1998, it belonged to the Suwałki Voivodeship, and then—from 1999 to 2001—to the Olecko-Gołdap County. The municipal seat is located in Dubeninki. One of its key landmarks is the Stańczyki Viaducts, which are an interesting architectural and tourist attraction. The municipality is characterized by a rich geographical environment, including the Romincka Forest and areas known for glacial formations such as moraines and river valleys, as well as numerous lakes. The terrain is diverse, with the highest peaks reaching over 295 meters above sea level. The municipality is a significant area in hydrology, with a watershed between the Vistula and Pregolya river basins, featuring numerous rivers and lakes, such as Czarne and Przerośl, which are also the deepest water bodies in the region. The municipality covers an area of approximately 205 km², with agricultural and forest land dominating. Demographically, the municipality is diverse, with a population of 2,886 residents as of the end of 2019. In terms of nature conservation, the municipality stands out with the presence of the Romincka Forest Landscape Park and nature reserves such as Czarcia Kępa and Czerwona Struga. There are also natural monuments and Natura 2000 areas here. The municipality includes several village administrative districts, such as Będziszewo, Błędziszki, and Maciejowięta, as well as numerous localities. Its proximity to Russia and Lithuania, including the phenomenon of the Quadripoint, adds additional cultural and historical flavor to the municipality. Local festivals and events are also held in the area, nurturing local traditions and culture.
