Dzwola Commune, located in the Lublin Voivodeship within Janów County, is a rural administrative unit with a rich history dating back to 1377. Historically known as Kocudza Commune, established in 1810, it was later reorganized into a collective commune in 1973. The commune's seat is in Dzwola, and as of December 31, 2020, it had a population of 6,161. Situated along the Janów Lubelski–Frampol route, at the foothills of the Urzędowskie Heights and on the edges of the Roztocze region, it is surrounded by communes from both Janów and Biłgoraj counties. Covering an area of 203.1 km², 41% of which is agricultural land and 53% forested, it ranks as one of the greenest areas in the region. Dzwola is also home to part of the Roztocze Protected Landscape Area and the "Kacze Błota" nature reserve, attracting nature enthusiasts. In terms of education, the commune operates five primary schools and a kindergarten, highlighting its commitment to the local community. Notably, all school buildings were constructed in the 1990s. The commune's villages include Branew Ordynacka, Dzwola, Flisy, Kocudza, and Zofianka Dolna, each with its unique characteristics. Dzwola is bordered by neighboring communes such as Biłgoraj, Chrzanów, and Goraj, fostering cooperation and cultural exchange. With its rich heritage and strong connection to nature, the commune stands as an interesting point on the map of the Lublin region.
