wikipedia
The Russów Ethnographic Open-Air Museum, located in a picturesque park next to the Manor of Maria Dąbrowska, is a significant element of the cultural heritage of the Kalisz region. It is a branch of the District Museum of the Kalisz Land, and its exhibition features monuments of folk architecture from the 18th to the 19th centuries. The open-air museum comprises several unique structures, including a narrow-fronted residential house from Takomyśla dating back to around 1870, a double-granary barn from Godziesz Wielkie from the second half of the 19th century, and a cowshed from Skrzatki from the late 19th century. Particularly noteworthy is the granary from Russów, known as a "sołek," originating from the second half of the 18th century, as well as a residential cottage from Dobrzec from the first half of the 19th century. A monument from Kuźnica Grabowska, dated to 1800, also enriches the museum's offerings. Architecturally, these structures reflect local building traditions, materials, and techniques that have been forgotten over time in modern construction. Interestingly, some of these buildings are listed in the register of monuments, underscoring their historical and cultural value. The open-air museum not only serves as a museum but also as an educational center, allowing visitors to explore regional traditions, crafts, and the lifestyle of past generations. It stands as an important point on Poland's cultural map, promoting local heritage and traditions.
