Płoty is an urban-rural municipality located in northwestern Poland, in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, within Gryfice County. Its administrative seat is the town of Płoty, which was granted the status of a town as early as 1277. The municipality covers an area of 239.19 km², of which 28% is forested and 61% is agricultural land. The area around the town features nature reserves, and the Rega River flows through the municipality, known for its kayaking opportunities. Płoty has an interesting transportation history—it gained a railway connection in 1882, and today it has two operational train stations. The municipality is also home to architectural monuments such as the Old Castle, the New Castle, the town hall, and the Church of the Transfiguration, which reflect the region’s rich history. Culturally, Płoty is vibrant thanks to the Municipal Cultural Center, which supports various art forms and organizes local events, as well as running the town library located in the Old Castle.
