wikipedia
Brzeg Głogowski is a village located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, within the Żukowice commune, on the left bank of the Oder River, 16 km west of Głogów. The history of the settlement dates back to the 13th century, when a church and a knight's residence were first mentioned here. The most important architectural object is the parish church of Corpus Christi, whose Romanesque walls date back to the 13th century. Despite numerous alterations, elements of its original architecture have been preserved. In the 18th century, a sacristy was added to the church, and its interior is decorated with fragments of Romanesque architecture as well as Renaissance and Baroque elements. It is worth noting the wooden pulpit and the altar-epitaph, as well as the tombstones from the second half of the 16th century. On the Wrocław-Szczecin railway line, which runs through the village, there is a railway station. The village also has cultural facilities such as a primary school, a tennis court, and a unit of the Volunteer Fire Department, which testifies to the activity of the residents. Brzeg Głogowski was gasified in 1998, has new water supply systems and several deep wells. In 2003, the water supply system was also modernized. The village has good infrastructure, including a grocery store and a branch of the Public Library. Residents appreciate relaxation in a small park. The name of the village comes from the word "brzeg" (bank), and the first records concerning the settlement date back to 1222. Historically, the village was inhabited by Protestants and Catholics, reflecting its cultural diversity. The well-preserved palace complex from the 18th-19th centuries consists of a palace located on a hill and an adjacent park, with a history dating back to the Middle Ages. The Viennese well, which was used by the copper smelter, documents local industrial development. Brzeg Głogowski is a place combining rich history and cultural traditions, and its monuments are an important expression of local identity.
