Gancarz Pass

Gancarz Pass, situated at an altitude of 735 meters in the Little Beskids, is a small yet significant tourist location. It is nestled between two peaks: Czolo (768 m) and Groń Jana Pawła II (885 m), with additional elevations in the vicinity. The slopes of the pass descend both towards the Rzyczanka stream in Rzyki and towards the Ponikiewka in Ponikiew, highlighting its geographical importance. Although the area is predominantly forested and the pass itself is not very prominent, it holds considerable orienteering value, as two hiking trails intersect here, facilitating exploration of the surrounding area. The pass marks the boundary between the villages of Rzyki and Ponikiew, which has administrative significance. Among the hiking trails, those leading from Andrychów to Groń Jana Pawła II and from Tarnawa Górna to Wadowice stand out, confirming its popularity among hikers. Interestingly, the name Gancarz Pass refers to the nearby peak Gancarz, reflecting the local geography and history of the region. Although the pass may not stand out significantly, it combines natural beauty with the opportunity to explore local hiking routes, making it an attractive destination for spending time in the Beskid outdoors.
