Gorzkowice is a rural municipality located in the Łódź Voivodeship, within the Piotrków Trybunalski County, with its administrative seat in the village of the same name. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the former Piotrków Voivodeship. It covers an area of 102.17 km², of which 76% is agricultural land and 15% is forested, making it a significant agricultural region in the county. As of December 31, 2007, the population was 8,649. The municipality consists of several village administrative units (sołectwa), including Bujnice, Gorzkowice, Wilkoszewice, and Szczepanowice, as well as smaller settlements such as Białek and Borzęcin.
