Gorzuchów, a small administrative village in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, located in the Kłodzko Valley, boasts a rich history dating back to before the mid-13th century. Initially, it was a pre-location village established under free settlement rights, benefiting from its convenient location on the route to Broumov, as indicated by its original name, Melhotin. In the 18th century, Gorzuchów came under Prussian rule, and its estates were initially managed by the counts von Götz and later by the counts von Magnis. The village retains many historic buildings from the 19th century, including wooden-brick cottages with regional characteristics, as well as a Marian column with a statue of the Virgin Mary from the early 19th century. Gorzuchów has preserved its multi-road village layout and a unique urban structure. The village was once economically active, with agriculture dominating the residents' livelihoods; however, after the dissolution of the State Agricultural Farm (PGR) in the 1990s, residents began seeking employment in nearby towns. Gorzuchów had its own primary school until the 1970s, and today children attend school in Bierkowice. The village does not have its own parish; residents belong to the parish in Piszkowice. Historically, Gorzuchów has maintained a stable community despite the political changes following World War II, when it became part of Poland and its original population was displaced. Interestingly, Gorzuchów lies within a geologically significant area, featuring amphibolites and phyllites, as well as glacial sediment deposits. In the 19th century, the village's development was boosted by the construction of the railway line from Kłodzko to Wałbrzych, which revitalized local life. Today, Gorzuchów has access to public transportation, and its residents elect councillors to the Municipal Council every four years. The economy is based on agriculture, but the village also offers basic commercial services. Despite its small size, Gorzuchów is a place with interesting architectural heritage, an active community, and a tranquil natural surroundings.
