wikipedia
Grzegorzowice, located in the Silesian Voivodeship, Racibórz County, is a village with a rich history, formed after World War I through the merger of Ganiowice, the settlement of Gacki, and the smaller Grzegorzowice. The first mentions of the locality date back to the 15th century, when the village was recorded as Gregorowitz. Over the centuries, it was in the hands of various owners, including the Hossek von Gregorowitz family and Count Adolf von Eichendorff. The historical estate of Grzegorzowice included, among others, a water mill and a manor farm with gardens and forests. A significant event was the construction of a bridge over the Oder River between 1884 and 1885, which burned down in 1921 and was destroyed by the Wehrmacht during World War II. The remains of the bridge were entered into the register of monuments in 2020. Grzegorzowice is also home to the Joseph von Eichendorff Primary School and a DFK hall that organizes cultural events. The village has rich heritage resources, including a former manor house, stone crosses, and chapels. The history of Gacki, located nearby, includes a mill and a manor farm, the revenues from which went to the church. The village is traversed by Provincial Road No. 421 and the Oder Bicycle Route. The economy is mainly based on agriculture, with residents engaged in grain cultivation and cattle breeding. Grzegorzowice, known for its cultural and historical values, is a distinctive point on the regional map, combining elements of tradition with the daily life of the local community. Interestingly, the village experienced serious floods in 1997 and 2010, which prompted the authorities to build a flood embankment. Grzegorzowice, with its excellent location, infrastructure, and rich history, is a place that attracts both residents and tourists.
