Leszczyny is a historic district of Kłodzko, located in the northwestern part of the city. It was established in the first half of the 18th century as a suburban settlement. Its origins are tied to the colonization efforts led by the King of Prussia, Frederick the Great, after the conquest of Silesia. The settlement initially consisted of three hamlets, each managed by different owners. Throughout the 18th century, Leszczyny developed as an agricultural community, benefiting from fertile soils and proximity to Kłodzko. In the 19th century, clay deposits were discovered here, leading to the establishment of a large brickyard that supplied the city with construction materials. After World War II, Leszczyny was incorporated into Kłodzko, but its development remained limited until the 1960s, when industrial plants and the city's bypass began to be constructed. In the 1990s, as part of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone, new enterprises started operating in Leszczyny, transforming the district into Kłodzko's industrial center. Geographically, Leszczyny is situated on the plateau of the Kłodzko Valley, at an altitude of 320–330 meters above sea level. It offers favorable conditions for agriculture, while furniture production and plastic processing, facilitated by the bypass, play a significant role in the local economy. Although peripheral, the district features architecturally valuable historical elements, including a 19th-century manor house and buildings with characteristics of folk Baroque. On Zajęcza Street, there is an 18th-century statue of St. John of Nepomuk, along with numerous 19th-century roadside crosses and figures. Leszczyny lacks extensive cultural infrastructure, and children attend a nearby primary school. In 2015, the "Minieuroland" miniature park was opened, attracting visitors from across the region with its displays of famous building replicas set in a beautiful garden. Although Leszczyny faces some limitations in infrastructure and services, its history and architecture continue to draw attention, offering residents and visitors a unique blend of past and modernity.
