The Henryk Sienkiewicz General Education School Complex in Szydłowiec boasts a rich history dating back to 1945, when local leaders initiated the establishment of the Friends of Secondary School Association. Funds were quickly raised to renovate the building on Zamkowa Street, and despite initial spatial challenges, the school developed dynamically. In 1949, the gymnasium was nationalized, meaning its funding was taken over by the state. Over the following years, the school grappled with limited space, leading to relocations to new premises and the construction of appropriate facilities, including dormitories and specialized workshops. In 1958, construction began on a modern school building, which was completed in 1960. The architecture of the institution combined functionality with modern solutions, positively impacting the development of education in the region. The school underwent numerous organizational changes, and in 2000, the No. 1 Post-Gymnasium School Complex was established. Culturally, the institution engages in youth development through a rich curriculum, including the offering of multiple foreign languages and preparatory seminars for the matriculation exam. Notable teachers and alumni also stand out, including Archbishop Wacław Depo and musician Dariusz Grudzień. The school is housed in a modern building at the intersection of Zamkowa and Kościuszki Streets, on a site that played an important role in the Jewish community before World War II. An interesting fact is that since 1956, the Social Artistic Center has been operating in the school buildings, and in 2009, the County Public Library was launched. Students have the opportunity to participate in various courses and projects, making this institution a significant educational center in Szydłowiec and the surrounding areas.
