wikipedia
The historic house with a pharmacy in Zerwana, located in the Michałowice municipality of Kraków County, is a site of exceptional architectural and historical value. Built in 1917 by pharmacist Maksymilian Jarzębiński, it stands out with its rectangular layout and plastered masonry construction in the late historicism style. A distinctive feature of the building is the two-bay arcaded portico with semi-circular arches, bearing the inscription "APTEKA" (Pharmacy). A renovation in 2000 introduced new elements, including a porch and alcoves on the garden side. Next to the building stands a chapel with a hexagonal floor plan, which originally featured lattice walls but was later bricked up on five sides, retaining only oval openings. The interior of the chapel is adorned with a statue of St. John of Nepomuk from 1774, underscoring the site’s significance in local culture and religion. The house and chapel, set within a picturesque garden, are listed in the register of immovable monuments of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, highlighting their considerable cultural value. Inside the old pharmacy, visitors can admire original furnishings from 1917, including scales and pharmaceutical glassware, offering a precious glimpse into local history. The value of this site lies not only in its architecture but also in its preservation of pharmaceutical heritage, making it an important landmark in the region.
