The Open-Air Museum of the Material Culture of the Chełm and Podlasie Regions in Hola, established in 1985, is an open-air museum located in the Lublin Voivodeship, in Włodawa County, in the municipality of Stary Brus. Managed by the Society of Lovers of this Culture, the museum features a rich collection of rural wooden architecture, including cottages and farm buildings. The most valuable exhibit is the cottage of a wealthy peasant from 1913, relocated from Wyryki, characterized by its log construction and a thatched gable roof. The museum also includes various other structures, such as a "koźlak" type windmill from the early 20th century, a barn, a roadside shrine, and beehives, which showcase the traditional rural life of the region. An interesting aspect is the proximity of a wooden Orthodox church from 1702 and an 18th-century bell tower, which are important elements of local culture and religion. The Orthodox cemetery next to the museum highlights the historical context of the site, associated with the traditions and history of the Orthodox community. The museum in Hola is a place where history, architecture, and local culture intertwine, creating a unique space to explore the traditions of the Chełm and Podlasie regions. It is also an excellent opportunity to immerse oneself in the local history and customs that were an integral part of the lives of the inhabitants of this region.
