Holy Trinity Parish in Grabów nad Pilicą

The Parish of the Holy Trinity in Grabów nad Pilicą, established around 1382 by Andrzej of Bnin, the Bishop of Poznań, was initially part of the Poznań diocese. Its history is intertwined with numerous significant events, including the construction of several church buildings. The first wooden church was built when the parish was founded, but subsequent structures faced destruction—the 16th-century church was burned down by the Swedes in 1656. Later, in 1776, a larch wood church was funded by Ignacy Walewski, which also burned down in 1906. During this period, a temporary chapel was built using remnants of an old church from Stromiec, where the former high altar was placed. The current church, designed by architect Tomasz Pajzderski, was constructed between 1907 and 1912 thanks to the efforts of local priests and the support of Count Jan Zamoyski; it was blessed in 1913 and consecrated in 1922. The church survived destruction during World War II, after which a provisional chapel served the community until the church was rebuilt in the Neo-Romanesque style between 1950 and 1953, based on a design by architect Janusz Kalbarczyk. The church, built mostly from red brick salvaged from the bell tower demolished in 1942, is a three-aisle, two-bay structure with a transept. As part of the Głowaczów deanery in the Radom diocese, the parish serves numerous localities, including Broncin, Cychrowska Wola, and Nowa Wola, and is known for its regular Holy Masses held on Sundays and weekdays. The parish reflects the rich history, folk traditions, and spirituality of the local community, and its architecture and continuous efforts toward reconstruction demonstrate the strong bond between the residents and their cultural heritage.
