wikipedia
The Iron Theater Association (Teatr Żelazny) was founded in 2011 by Piotr Wiśniewski, an actor and theater producer, with the goal of creating an independent artistic ensemble. Initially, it operated at the Cultural Center in Bogucice, and later moved to the PKP Katowice Ligota railway station—a space in need of renovation that Wiśniewski aimed to transform. During this period, the theater gained popularity by organizing a variety of artistic events, such as exhibitions, jam sessions, and author meetings. Collaborations with renowned artists, like Krzysztof Globisz, contributed to the development of theatrical art in the region. In 2014, due to the modernization of the Ligota station, Teatr Żelazny had to relocate once again, this time to the ruins of the old PKP railway station in Katowice-Piotrowice—a secession-style building from 1912 that had been deteriorating for years. After extensive renovation work, the theater became a hub for artists from various disciplines. Productions such as "Ciało obce" (Foreign Body) and "Diwa" (Diva) were staged here, along with numerous guest events. Teatr Żelazny places strong emphasis on theater education for young audiences, believing in their natural affinity for this art form. Despite the need for ongoing investments, the theater has earned recognition in the artistic community, exemplified by Piotr Wiśniewski being awarded the "Personality of the Year 2018" title. The theater collaborates with many acclaimed and talented artists, offering a diverse repertoire of performances, including hits like "Jabłko" (The Apple), which received the Golden Mask award in 2018. Teatr Żelazny has become a cultural enclave—a space for artistic creativity and innovative ideas in Katowice.
