Izbica Kujawska is an urban-rural municipality in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, which until 1954 functioned as the Izbica Commune. The seat of the municipality is Izbica Kujawska, and in 2004 it was inhabited by 8,056 people. The municipality covers an area of 132.05 km², of which 83% is agricultural land and 3% is forest land. Izbica Kujawska is rich in architectural heritage, as evidenced by a number of immovable monuments. Among them, the churches stand out: St. Margaret's in Blenna from 1861–77, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the 15th century, and the Evangelical church from the late 19th century. Another interesting site is the mid-19th century synagogue. The manor complex in Mchówek, consisting of a manor house, a park, and farm buildings, testifies to the historical estate structure of the region. The municipality also features a historic wooden chapel of St. Florian from 1639 in Pustynia and a wooden church from 1796 in Modzerowo, highlighting the architectural diversity of the area. It is worth adding that in the past, the municipality administratively belonged to the Poznań and Włocławek voivodeships, which underscores its historical significance in the region. The Izbica Kujawska municipality consists of numerous village councils (sołectwa), including Augustynów and Chociszewo, as well as localities without village council status, such as Dębianki or Gogoły, which can be attractive places to explore local culture and traditions. Neighboring municipalities, such as Babiak, Boniewo, or Lubraniec, form the contemporary surroundings of Izbica Kujawska, providing residents with access to a variety of services and activities. The municipality combines tradition with modernity, making it an interesting area for living and exploration.
