wikipedia
The Józef Rosenthal Tenement House, located at 46 Piotrkowska Street in Łódź, is a building with a rich history, entered into the register of monuments on January 20, 1971. Initially, plots no. 46 and 48 formed one large parcel of land. After its division in the mid-19th century, a single-story brick tenement was built in the 1860s on the new land register number 262a. The property was owned by Józef Rosenthal and later by the pharmacist Fryderyk Müller, who relocated his pharmacy here from another location. The tenement served various commercial functions, housing a piano and grand piano warehouse, a sheet music bookstore, and a photographic studio. In 1897, Władysław Reymont lived here while gathering material for his novel *The Promised Land*. The architecture of the tenement is eclectic, combining classical and Renaissance elements. It features a harmonious facade with a balcony in the risalit, decorative cornices, and a semi-circular gateway. With its rich history and diverse functions, the building is a significant part of Łódź's cultural heritage.
