Jaszkowa Dolna

Jaszkowa Dolna is an agricultural village located in the Kłodzko Valley in southwestern Poland, forming part of the Kłodzko municipality. Its origins date back to the first half of the 13th century. The village developed as a suburban settlement closely tied to Kłodzko, which allowed it to avoid the severe depopulation experienced by other localities in the region. Today, Jaszkowa Dolna is home to 105 farms and serves both residential and industrial functions, featuring new developments and artisanal workshops. Notable architectural landmarks include the neo-Gothic Parish Church of St. John the Baptist from 1905 and a 14th-century cemetery chapel. The village maintains its cultural traditions through active organizations such as a local women’s association and the Iskra sports club. Jaszkowa Dolna also holds historical significance: during the Thirty Years' War, it witnessed peasant uprisings, and in 1807, it became a site of military action in the Napoleonic Wars. Remnants of former fortifications and a quarry with interesting geological formations can be found here. Notable figures associated with the village include Oskar Düring, a renowned collector, and Johann Franca Otto, a composer. Residents benefit from local infrastructure, including National Road 33 and the Kłodzko public transport service, ensuring good transportation links.
